Skoltech and the Radio Institute subordinate to the Ministry of Digital Transformation can receive more than 30 billion rubles for this until 2025. At the same time, commercial networks of the previous generation of 5G in Russia have not yet been launched - operators cannot receive the frequencies necessary for this, they are occupied by special services. Mobile operators are skeptical about the prospects of 6G: in their opinion, in the face of a shortage of equipment, it is necessary to maintain the 4G standard, which is still quite enough for subscribers.
9.1.9 Tourism sector news
Russia admits tourists not coming to occupied Crimea this year. According to Serhiy Aksyonov, a Russia-installed leader in the occupied Crimea, the flow of tourists in June deсreased by 40% compared with the same month previous year. Aksyonov also claimed that next year, the sea resorts in the parts of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia oblasts that Russia currently occupied will be open for tourists. Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities say that President Volodymyr Zelensky wants the military to reclaim the occupied territories in southern Ukraine.
9.1.10 Utilities & Renewables sector news
Russia’s electricity System Operator considers suspending foreign turbines due to maintenance problems, according to Kommersant. These turbines produce around 20% of electricity in European part of Russia. The change may affect payments for foreign manufactured capacities if they are underutilized (25GW of capacities). Significant capacity reserve margin means that there is no threat to power supply, however implications could be diverse and significant. Inter RAO faces risks. Capacity payment is the most stable part of gencos’ revenues, hence any changes carry hypothetical risks. Kommersant cites Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov as saying that payments could be curtailed down to 10% of regular DPM payments. In this case, we project IRAO to take a hit, as the company runs significant amount of DPM paying capacities.
Germany to relaunch 16 coal, oil-fired power plants amid fears Russia will cut gas supplies.
