 5.2 Balance of payments, current account
     According to the Bank of Russia’s preliminary estimate, the current account surplus of the balance of payments of the Russian Federation in January—September 2022 strengthened to $198.4bn, or by $123.1bn, compared to the corresponding period of previous year.
● the widening of surplus in the balance on goods and services to $238.0 billion, which exceeded the result of the period of January—September 2021 by $130.2 billion, played the key role in the dynamics of this indicator due to favorable price conditions for the main goods of Russian exports and a decline in the value of imports;
● total deficit of primary and secondary income recorded in the current account of the balance of payments also increased, inter alia, due to a decrease in the investment income received and transfers;
● net lending to the rest of the world was carried out both in the form of reduction of external liabilities and growth in the amount of other foreign assets.
