A dry port will be built in Transcarpathia to export grain to Europe. This project is planned to be implemented in the village of Horonda and will organize the supply of agricultural products to Italy, reported local media. It is planned to allocate more than 40 hectares of land to construct the dry port. Goronda will become a regional hub that provides intermodal logistics and the ability to store grain, vegetable oil, and containers. The new grain hub will be built based on the narrow-gauge European model. The dry port, which the railway will pass through, will connect Ukraine with Italian cities, and from there, domestic products can reach other countries. It is also reported that the Goronda Platform project will be implemented with the participation of Italian businesses. The Minister of Economy of Italy united several Italian business circles around the project, such that the railway and the owners of Italian ports in Venice, Verona, and Trieste are all involved. The minister invited them to join and become one of the founders of this terminal.
The Ust-Dunaisk port will replace the grain corridor: the port will be able to receive Panamax-size ships. Due to the expansion of the Ust-Dunaisk seaport water area boundaries, raid transshipment will be organized, said the head of Sea Ports of Ukraine, Yuriy Lytvyn. Note that the port is located on the Danube and cannot receive large container ships due to the river's shallow depth. Panamax describes a ship whose dimensions allow passage through the locks of the Panama Canal, with a deadweight of more than 50,000 tons. These vessels were serviced in Odesa ports before the grain deal was stopped. However, at the end of last week, the government temporarily expanded the boundaries of the water area at the Ust-Dunaisk seaport to increase the cargo processing volumes at the seaports in the Danube region during martial law. The new anchorage location near the mouth of the Bystre where raid transshipment of grain cargoes from the Ust-Dunaisk and Izmail to Panamax vessels has been determined.
Ukraine has established temporary corridors for merchant ships from the ports of Odesa. The routes will primarily be used to exit civilian vessels that have been in the Ukrainian ports of Chornomorsk, Odesa, and Pivdenny since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, the command of the Ukrainian Navy said. Vessels whose owners/captains officially confirm their readiness to sail in conditions of military threat and mine danger will be allowed to pass through these routes. It is reported that Ukraine proposed these routes in an appeal to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in July 2023. The IMO Council recognized Ukraine's right to free commercial shipping guaranteed by international maritime law. In July, the government also passed a resolution to create an additional guarantee mechanism for damages Russia may cause to charterers, operators, or ship owners. The document stipulates that if the insurer refuses to compensate the operator or ship owner for damage caused by Russia's invasion of Ukraine, they can apply to the Ministry
