Russian carmaker Moskvich plans to start production of new model Moskvich 2 and hybrid electric car Moskvich 5 in the next four years, as follows from the presentation by production director Oleg Maslyakov on November 29. “Soon (2024–2027): the launch of new models... M2, M5+, M5+ PHEV," the top manager's presentation read. Also, the company intends to restyle the models already on the assembly line: crossover Moskvich 3 and sedan Moskvich 6 until 2028.
Russia’s largest carmaker AvtoVAZ has restarted production of the Lada Niva Legend and Lada Niva Travel with the ABS systems and the Euro-5 environmental class engines, the company said in a statement on December 1. The calibration and engine control units for the Euro-5 class were designed in Russia and tested under all possible weather and driving conditions, the company said. The minimum recommended retail prices for the cars are 927,500 rubles for the Lada Niva Legend model and to 1.213mn rubles for the Lada Niva Travel ones.
Two Russian car dealers, RTDS and BN-Motors, have sued the French carmaker Renault for a total RUB760mn in the arbitration courts of Moscow and Kaluga over pulling out of the Russian market in 2022 amid the full-scale military invasion of Ukraine, Vedomosti reports. "We want to set a precedent so that others can follow in our footsteps. There are at least 10 other dealers who want to file lawsuits against Renault," the head of BN Motors Alexei Podshchekoldin commented to Vedomosti. In 2021, Renault sold 521,000 cars in France, 482,000 cars in Russia (together with Lada of AvtoVaz) and 177,800 cars in Germany, with Russia being its second-largest market.
Russian carmaker Moskvich has raised its 2024 plan by 13.6% to 50,000 cars under the brand in 2024, Chief Operating Officer Oleg Maslyakov told PRIME on November 23. "Moskvich car plant’s 2024 production plan amounts to about 50,000 cars," Maslyakov said. The company said in August it plans to produce 44,000 cars. Moskvich is located on the premises of the former Renault Russia plant, which Renault, that quit Russia, passed to the Moscow government in May 2022. Kamaz truck maker now also owns 50% of the company. It produces three models – city crossover Moskvich 3, electric car Moskvich 3e and sedan Moskvich 6.
Russian car producer Motorinvest plans to produce 12,000–14,000 electric cars in 2024, Deputy CEO for Production Sergei Mamontov told reporters on November 16. “We can make 12,000 cars or maybe 14,000 cars.
