Russia's major oil company LUKoil, announced the shutdown of a crucial "technological installation" at its Nizhny Novgorod refinery, a facility ranking among the nation's top five. The refinery encountered a setback on January 4 when an accident forced the complete cessation of one of its catalytic cracking units. Compounded by Western sanctions, the company struggled to swiftly address the issues, leading to a 50% reduction in gasoline production at the plant.
Kommersant revealed another significant accident at the refinery last month, resulting in the restart of the affected unit with reduced power. The Nizhny Novgorod refinery contributes to 10% of Russia's total gasoline production,
