The automotive sector is slowly recovering and should grow further in 2025. Ukraine has an underdeveloped automotive production sector, most of which is of Soviet vintage, including: Zaporizhzhia Automobile Building Plant (founded in 1950), Bogdan Corporation (1992), Kremenchuk Automobile Plant (1946), Lutsk Automobile Plant (1955) and the small modern salon producer Eurocar (2000). Most of these producers manufacture industrial and agricultural vehicles but do not produce cars for the general public, the majority of which are imported from the country’s European neighbours.
Ukrainians' spending on foreign cars increased by 14% in January to September 2024; Ukraine imported $3.27bn worth of passenger cars, 14% more than last year. 239,000 passenger cars were imported during the specified period – used and new, 9% more than in January-September 2023. The largest passenger car supplier was Germany, with 47,527 cars imported to Ukraine. The top three exporting countries include the US (37,367) and China (28,653).
