In the electricity sector, renewable energy sources (RES) saw significant growth, rising by 4.88 pp to 41.89%. This increase was largely driven by a 52.48% boost in solar power generation. The transport sector also recorded gains in renewables, with the share of RES rising by 2.19 pp to 10.02%.
Slovenia’s total net electricity generation reached 1,550 GWh in October, reflecting a 19% increase from the previous month and a 77% jump compared to the same month last year, according to data released by the statistics office on November 25.
In October, 697 GWh of electricity was imported in Slovenia, while 1,146 GWh was exported. Compared to the same month last year, imports fell by 28%, whereas exports rose by 48%. Households consumed 246 GWh of electricity, a 6% increase compared to September, while business entities consumed 571 GWh, a decrease of 5%.
Slovenia's natural gas supply is expected to remain stable and reliable throughout the winter 2024/25, backed by alternative sources from Algeria, Azerbaijan and Norway, according to the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Energy.
Suppliers have confirmed their readiness, and no significant issues are anticipated, despite challenges such as the disruption of Russian gas transit through Ukraine.
This year Slovenia has extended its gas supply agreements with Algeria and signed new contracts with Azerbaijan.
