A Canadian manufacturer of armored vehicles is investing tens of millions of dollars in a new Ukrainian enterprise. According to Roman Shimonov, CEO of the Canadian Roshel company, the decision to open a company in Ukraine has already been made. The company expects to invest "tens of millions of dollars" and create hundreds of new jobs. The plant will focus on both the Ukrainian and European markets. "Ukraine has a powerful infrastructure, but not all is used efficiently. You have cheap electricity, labor, production chains now being built, and many people with higher education. When recruiting Ukrainians, we see a big difference compared to people from other regions, where there is no production culture," said Shimonov. The company's main product is the Senator armored car, 1,140 of which have already been delivered to the Ukraine Armed Forces. Ukraine receives these machines from its partners and pays for them with its own funds.
The manufacturer of Leopard 2 will not be able to supply Ukraine with weapons in the near future. The Franco-German KNDS group of arms companies has said that it will not be able to supply additional weapons for the Ukrainian military in the near future, as the capacity for rapid production has been exhausted. "Two years ago, a strategic decision should have been made that this war would last several years. Then today we could provide new batches," the company said.
Ukraine has unveiled a comprehensive website detailing sanctions imposed on Russia and sponsors of its war against Ukraine.
Ukraine needs €7-10B annually for basic ammunition supplies. Czech Governmental Envoy for the Reconstruction of Ukraine Tomasz Kopechny said, “Ukraine's basic need for large-caliber projectiles, and this is not only 120-155 mm but also mortar caliber 81 mm, in the current and the next two years will amount to approximately 200,000 artillery shells per month.” The basic need means that the armed forces will be able to maintain balance; it is not about outmaneuvering the enemy. "To fully provide the basic needs of the Armed Forces, Ukraine needs approximately €7-10B per year," Kopechny estimated. According to him, the Czech initiative for purchasing ammunition from outside the EU can source the purchase of 1.5 - 2 million shells. However, the Czech Republic currently has financial commitments sufficient to purchase only 500,000 rounds of large-caliber ammunition. "I don't understand why it is impossible to find this money," said Kopechny.
