Russia used more than 10,000 UAVs against Ukraine between 1 January and 31 May 2024. This data shows that the use of aerial bombs has increased almost 20 times compared to the whole year 2023.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Russians are already using more than 3,000 guided aerial bombs per month to attack Ukraine, and this figure is constantly growing. The Ukrainian defence forces also use guided aerial bombs, but compared to Russia, they use a much smaller amount of ammunition provided by Western partners. However, the situation may change in the near future. Brigadier General Serhii Holubtsov, chief of aircraft of the Air Force Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, said on 9 June that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will begin testing guided bombs of Ukrainian production in a few weeks.
US to deploy additional Patriot missile battery to Ukraine. The United States will provide Ukraine with an additional Patriot missile system, senior administration and military officials told the New York Times on June 11. This will be the second Patriot system supplied by the U.S. to Ukraine.
Pentagon has 'no announcements' on delivering additional Patriot to Ukraine. US to announce $225 million military aid package to Ukraine, including HIMARS rockets. The new package will include new HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) ammunition, mortar systems, and artillery shells, among other ammunition and equipment, the AP reported.
Germany will provide a new €500M aid package, a Patriot air defense system, and allow Ukraine to use its weapons to strike military facilities in Russia. During his trip to Odesa at the end of last week, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced a new €500M military aid package for Ukraine. The aid includes a large number of missiles for Iris-T air defense systems , drones for reconnaissance and combat operations in the Black Sea, spare parts for German artillery systems, spare engines for Leopard tanks, and a million small arms rounds. As Pistorius specified, some of these supplies are already ready for shipment. Starting in 2025, the delivery of 18 of the latest RCH-155 self-propelled howitzers will also begin. In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany announced a transfer of another Patriot air defense system to Ukraine. Also, the German government officially confirmed that it has allowed Ukraine to use German-provided weapons for strikes on military facilities in Russian territory, to be used in accordance with international law.
