4.5 Labour and income
4.5.1 Labour market, unemployment dynamics
The Ukrainian labour market has started recovering, mainly in the western regions. According to a Work.ua study, the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation created a significant crisis in Ukraine’s labour market. Before the war, employers placed more than 100,000 vacancies on the Work.ua job posting site every month. By March, the number of job offers fell by 94%. But now analysts note a recovery of 50% compared to the pre-war level. In the centre and south of the country, the labour market recovered by 40%, and in the Lviv region by 90%. The Ivano-Frankivsk region has fully recovered, and there are already more job offers than in December 2021. The average monthly salary in Ukraine during the year remained at UAH 15,000 ($410). However, in 2023, employers plan to raise wages by 8% to 30%, depending on the business sector. Salary growth will depend on the military and economic situation in the country.
