Police open investigation against Arestovych. Ukraine's National Police allegedly opened an investigation against controversial former presidential advisor Oleksii Arestovych, Ukrainian lawmaker Nataliia Pipa said on Nov. 16.
Zelensky fires foreign intelligence service official. President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Oleksandr Tarasovsky from his post as deputy head of Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service on Nov. 17, according to a presidential decree. The reason for the dismissal wasn't specified. Tarasovsky had served in this position since January 2022.
Zelensky fires Medical Forces commander, announces replacement. President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Medical Forces commander Tetyana Ostashchenko on Nov. 19 amid repeated calls from medics and volunteers to fire the official, replacing her with Anatoly Kazmirchuk, the president announced in his evening address.
The Kyiv Court of Appeal partially changed the preventive measure against businessman Ihor Kolomoisky, Suspilne reported on November 20. "The businessman will remain in custody until December 2, and not until January 2, 2024, with an alternative bail of UAH 3.891bn," Suspilne said. Kolomoisky and his lawyers asked to change the preventive measure of detention to house arrest. As reported, on October 24, the Shevchenkivsky District Court of Kyiv upheld Kolomoisky's preventive measure in the form of detention with an alternative bail of UAH 3.8bn, not satisfying the lawyers' request to change the preventive measure to 24-hour house arrest.
Ukraine will not make special accommodations for Hungarian minority. Ukraine is working individually with all countries whose minorities live on Ukrainian territory as it aims to fulfill EU accession obligations but will not make "special exceptions" for its Hungarian minority, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Olha Stefanishyna said in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda on Nov. 22.
Collaborationist judges in Crimea sentenced in absentia for treason. Eight judges who defected to Russian occupation authorities in Crimea were sentenced to 12-15 years in absentia on high treason charges, Ukraine's Crimea and Sevastopol Prosecutor's Office reported on Nov. 23.
Ukraine designates German company Knauf as 'international sponsor of war.' Ukraine's National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) added Knauf, one of the world's largest manufacturers of building materials, to its list of "international sponsors of war," the agency announced on Nov. 23.
Ukraine faces LPG shortages over Polish border blockade. Around a million Ukrainian cars use LPG, a third of which is delivered to Ukraine via the Polish border.
Ukraine is adapting trade protection legislation to comply with EU regulations, which will strengthen protection for its producers. The Cabinet of Ministers approved the drafts of three laws that adapt Ukrainian legislation in the field of trade protection to EU regulations. The first draft law, On Protective Measures, proposes a new version of the Law of Ukraine On the Application of Special Measures Regarding Imports to Ukraine. The second is On Protection Against Dumping Imports. The third is On Protection Against Subsidized Imports. As noted by the Ministry of Economy, these documents expand the possibilities for the protection of national manufacturers from unfair and growing imports and reduce business costs for the preparation of materials and documentation during protective investigations. In addition, time limits for procedural stages of investigations are established; consultations are guaranteed at the interested party's request.
