     Estonia to bar entry to Russians with Estonian-issued Schengen visas. According to the Estonian government, the rule doesn’t affect permanent residents, employees directly involved in the transportation of goods and passengers, Russian embassy employees and their family members, and people visiting close relatives. The decision will enter into effect on Aug. 18.
Ukraine attacked Saki air base in Crimea. The U.S. Defence Department confirmed in a statement that Ukrainian forces bombarded the Russian-controlled Saki air base in Crimea on Aug. 9. Russia claims no attack occurred and Ukraine has neither confirmed nor denied its participation. Earlier, the Pentagon stated that weapons provided by the U.S. were not used in the attack. Russian forces may still be able to use the Saki air base in Russian-occupied Crimea as the runway is not damaged, Ukraine’s Air Force spokesperson Yuri Ignat said in a televised address, reports Ukrainska Pravda.
Azov Regiment urges world to recognize Russia as terrorist state. “After the public execution of prisoners of war of the Azov Regiment in Olenivka, Russia is looking for new reasons and explanations for its war crimes," the Azov Regiment said in a statement. The Supreme Court of Russia labeled the Azov Regiment as a terrorist organization on Aug. 2. Many of the victims in the attack on the Olenivka prisoner camp in the Russian-occupied part of Donetsk Oblast on July 28were members of the Azov Regiment, a unit within the National Guard of Ukraine, who took part in the defence of Azovstal in Mariupol and were supposed to be part of a prisoner exchange.
50 Ukrainian prisoners of war were killed in an attack on a prison camp in the Russian-occupied Donetsk region. The attack occurred early Friday morning at Correctional Colony No. 120 in Olenivka, part of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic. Russia released the names of 50 killed and 73 wounded, including members of the Azov Regiment. The Azov Regiment is famous for defending Mariupol against Russian invaders and was recently designated a “terrorist organization” by the Russian Supreme Court. Both Russia and Ukraine blame each other for the attack.
NATO is working with arms manufacturers to increase supplies to Ukraine. NATO member countries are working closely with defence complex manufacturers to supply more weapons and equipment to Ukraine and ensure its readiness for a long-term confrontation with the Russian Federation, stated NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. He added that the alliance is currently interacting with countries and companies that manufacture weapons and military equipment. "We are now in close contact and cooperation with the defence industry to produce and supply more and different types of ammunition, weapons, and other capabilities," the NATO Secretary General noted.
Two-thirds of residents have fled Donetsk Oblast. According to Pavlo Kyrylenko, around 350,000 people are remaining in the region. Mandatory evacuation from Donetsk Oblast began on Aug. 1. The first two trains evacuated 224 people to the city of Kropyvnytskyi in central Ukraine. Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said on July 30 that 200,000 civilians must be evacuated from Donetsk Oblast, and the evacuation must start before the heating season, as there is no proper electricity supply and no gas supply in the region, while Russia keeps destroying heating equipment.
Since the war, there have been 10 million border crossings from Ukraine.
