Security Service seizes assets of Ukrainian company linked to Gazprom. The State Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) said that its investigators seized assets worth over $270 million from a Ukrainian company that was allegedly linked to Gazprom, Russian state-owned energy corporation. The assets will be distributed to the Ukrainian military, the SBU said.
More British M270 MLRS arrive in Ukraine. Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov thanked his British counterpart Ben Wallace and assured him that the Ukrainian military "skillfully uses foreign weapons on the battlefield." He also noted that other “gifts” from foreign partners will soon arrive in Ukraine.
Ukraine has defeated one-fifth of Russian military units involved in war. Valery Zaluzhny, commander-in-chief of Ukraine's Armed Forces, told U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley said he was grateful to the “entire American people for effective support in the defence of our heroic nation and common values of freedom and democracy.” He also asked the U.S. to supply more artillery to Ukraine.
Boris Johnson visited Kyiv to underline the UK’s unwavering support and announced more aid. The UK will provide Ukraine with a new package of defence aid worth £54M, the British government’s website reported. The military assistance includes unmanned surveillance systems and anti-tank ammunition. This package consists of 850 hand-held Black Hornet micro-drones, specially designed for use in cities and villages and are used to detect approaching enemy forces. Training with such drones takes about 20 minutes. Moreover, the new military aid package complements Britain's training of the Ukrainian military on using vehicles to search for mines in the waters off its coast. In the coming weeks, Ukrainian personnel will be trained to use them in British waters.
Forbes: Ukraine has destroyed Russian military equipment worth $16.6 billion since Feb. 24. In six months of Russia's war in Ukraine, Russia has lost 12,142 pieces of equipment worth $16.56 billion, excluding missiles, according to Forbes. The most significant loss of the Russian army was the sinking of the Moskva missile cruiser on April 14, worth $750 million.
Ukraine estimates losses from Russian occupation of Crimea at $118
billion. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said during the international Crimea Platform summit that the peninsula has turned into a huge military base in eight years of the Russian occupation.
Russia’s war causes $10.7 billion worth of environmental damage.
According to Ukraine’s Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, more than 2,000 cases of damage to nature have been recorded since Feb. 24.
