Hungary and Slovakia paid for the transit of Russian oil directly to Ukraine. The Hungarian company MOL and Slovak Slovnaft announced that they independently paid Ukraine for the transportation of Russian oil through the Druzhba oil pipeline, reported Reuters. “By assuming the fee, MOL could provide a swift solution to the issue: the Ukrainian party has pledged to resume the transport of crude oil within a matter of days, which had been halted a few days ago due to technical issues emerging on the banking front,” it said in a statement. Slovnaft also stated that it has already made a payment to the account of the Gas transits company GTSO of Ukraine. "Slovnaft expects the resumption of oil supply in the coming days. The Russian side also agreed with this decision," the Slovak company said.
Ukraine to receive $450 million from Canada to purchase gas ahead of the heating season. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal thanked Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Twitter for the assistance. Economic depression in Ukraine and a volatile gas market have raised fears of a difficult and cold winter ahead for Ukraine.

   August’s demand for new cars in Ukraine fell by 20%. In August, Ukrainians bought 2,900 new vehicles, 66% less than in August last year and 20% less than in July, reported Ukravtoprom. Toyota cars were in the greatest demand with 750 new registries. Compared to August 2021, however, the sale of new Toyotas decreased by 40% last month. Compared to July 2022, demand increased by 26%. Renault, with a decrease in sales by more than 600% over the year, is in second place with 206 cars purchased in August. Renault’s sales dropped by 21% from its July result. For the first time, the BMW brand entered the top three sellers of new cars in Ukraine, with 197 vehicles sold. At the same time, compared to August 2021, new BMW registrations decreased by 9%, but compared to July, BMW sales improved by 6%. In the first eight months of 2022, Ukrainians purchased and registered 24,400 new cars, 63% less than in the same period last year.
Demand for new commercial vehicles has increased. In July, the initial registration of new commercial cars in Ukraine increased by 38% compared to June, which is an increase of 593 units. However, compared to July 2021, the market shrank by 65%, Ukravtoprom reported. The best result in July was demonstrated by Volkswagen with the registration of 66 cars. The Volvo brand took second place with 65 registrations, third by MAN with 64 vehicles, and fourth by the Renault brand with 45 registrations. According to the association, a total of 3,800 new commercial vehicles were registered in Ukraine in January-July 2022, which is 2.2 times less than in the same period last year.
In July, the demand for electric cars in Ukraine increased by 2.3 times. In July, Ukrainians bought and registered 1,732 electric vehicles. This is 230% more than in July 2021 and 64% more than the previous month, Ukravtoprom reported. The percentage of new electric car registrations was only 11%
