Chevrolet Index for
Identifying Years
Although popular among the hot-rodders were the early Chevys, It wasn’t until
1953 that Chevy was King. They had smooth sensual lines as well as nice dimen-
sions. In 1955 Chevy started with the V8 engine that really set them up for popu-
larity. Chevrolet first produced a V8 engine in there 1917 and 1918 models, it was-
n’t until 1955 that they
reintroduced the V8. Granted, Ford came out with the V8 in ‘32 with their flat
1917
head engine which set them out at the time. A whopping 65 horsepower.
Compare that with today’s Bugatti Chiron that boasts a mammoth 1,500 HP.
