.........sometimes the work seemed hopeless – the land in this part of the country is
not very fertile and the conditions were poor, too. Many people suffered from
hunger.
Well, that day it started as a normal day for me . I took my animals under the
mountain to do some field work. The little land was heavy and dry, not the kind to
grow very much and I could hardly feed them all with what I could grow there. It
was a hot day so I felt tired – I was thinking “How will I get the work done without
any help?”
Suddenly, a giant appeared over me. She helped me and gave me some more land
where I and other villagers could farm. We shared the land and worked on the land
in peace. And we were grateful to the giant. The other day she also took me under
the mountain where a witch was reading from the book about the end of the world.
I also told my family what‘d happened. I kept working on the land that giant had
given me. Soon our family expanded and villagers‘ around, too. People knew the
giant is looking after them although they could not see her, we felt she was still
there, taking care.
After some time the giant passed away – no one knew when. However, they could
feel her lying down and resting in the mountains.
This is why they called the mountain “BABA hora” the OLD LADY’s mountain.”
