Near the end of 1954 Vanni introduces a purely graphic element obtained by scratching the black fields to reveal the white of the ground. He reintroduces the theme of an inverted relationship between solids and voids where the voids represent subjects charged with an individuality generally reserved for elements of material corporeity, which is commonly associated with solids. The black prisms resulting from the areas left free from the chromatic backgrounds abdicate their corporeity to the advantage of highlighting their structure reduced to pure lines of tension. The intrinsic force of these manifestations will be revealed in the fragments placed on the border between two fields in which these lines develop.
