Adrenergics.
Alpha adrenoreceptor agonists (centrally act on Alpha 2 receptors)
Sudden discontinuation causes rebound hypertension due to salt
retention as compensatory mechanism.
Rebound increase in blood pressure can be controlled by
reinstitution of the clonidine therapy or administration of alpha blockers
such as phentolamine
