Eastchester Eagles Sports Club
A Message from the Sports Club President
Dear Eastchester Student Athletes, Parents, Coaches, Administrators and Community Members,
Our gathering tonight includes all three of our Varsity athletic seasons from the fall of 2016, winter of 2016/17 and the spring of 2017.We gather together to celebrate the commitment and determination you all give to the Eastchester sports program. I commend each and every one of you for your efforts throughout the year.
Our success as a club is directly tied to the support we receive from over 300 family members, 54 corporate sponsors, and the tireless work and time given by the members of our Sports Club Executive Board. I also want to recognize and thank the numerous volunteers reaching far and wide within the various school district organizations and from within the community. THANK YOU!
I am very proud of the financial and spiritual support we have continued to provide to both the district and our student athletes. Examples include our annual scholarship program, coordinating homecoming and tournaments, running the Spring BBQ, creating and distributing our detailed weekly sports recaps and running tonight’s annual dinner. We are also proud to have been part of the effort behind this year’s Wellness and Drug Abuse Prevention Initiative during the school year. Thank you to Dr. Moran, Dr. Capuano and Dr. Hattar for launching this important program within our community.
The bleacher and press box project was installed in August 2016, right before the start of our fall season. Along with Jason Karol, The Sports Club raised funds externally and from within our community in excess of $325,000 to make this project become a reality. Please know we are currently working on designing a plaque to commemorate this accomplishment and acknowledge all donors.
I look back at the last five years and I see improvements in our programs, in our facilities and in our structure. Jason Karol, our coaching staff and athletic training staff strive to not only coach and give support but to teach life lessons at the same time. As the approved bond work gets started over the next few years, we are all aware of the many additional improvements the athletic program will see in the years to come. Please know The Sports Club will continue to advocate for our student athletes to have the best programs and facilities in Section 1 athletics.
Finally, I would like to congratulate the Class of 2017. We have all enjoyed seeing you play and grow as student athletes in the classroom and on the field of competition. I will never forget how you led the way during the Girls Varsity Basketball run to ROCK THE COUNTY CENTER, Westchester’s most famous arena this past February. Eagle Nation came out in full force and there was tremendous support from the Eastchester community as well.
Be confident and believe in yourselves. Don’t be afraid to ask for help or guidance along the way. Along with this community of Eastchester, I and countless others will always be here for you.
With Love, Respect and Admiration,
Dan Schultz
