FRESHMEN CAREER EVENTS

LUNCH & LEARN SESSIONS
Dr. Bob Newman ’75 and Dr. Corey Boyko ’07 helped students focus on the clinical and business aspects of dentistry during two Lunch & Learn sessions, another method that MedTrack uses to deliver important content. MedTrack Director Laurie (Keco) Grabowski ’89 used the sessions to reinforce key ideas
the students should remember from career events, while then- Principal David Stec ’86 helped students employ different modes of thinking.
   ADDITIONAL ONLINE EXPERIENCES
Additional engaging online experiences included Emergency Medicine, Radiology, the Business of Healthcare (Dr. Susan Kuznik, Matt Diamond, Dr. Steven Dorsey ’89, Carol Hess, Dr. Shetal Shah, Mike Manning and Claudio Zanin), Transplant Medicine (led by Kathleen Parrino), and “Speed Dating” – a

   Diving into Virtual Reality
In a specially-commissioned virtual reality simulation, Padua students are assisting the immune system from the (virtual) confines of the school’s biology hallway. They’re fighting COVID-19 and flu cells with an antibody in one hand, while promoting red and white blood cell production with a thermometer in the other,
all while listening to the Padua Fight Song. This immersive training is a timely, fun tool to help students acclimate to virtual reality and the functionality of the dual handsets. Bruin Benefit participants were even able to get into the fun. Padua is adding more headsets in the fall for the Computer Science curriculum to enable graphic/ gaming development.
