Campus Ministry NEWS Senior Retreats
Campus Ministry continued to provide many opportunities for students to grow spiritually during the pandemic, in particular giving the Class of 2021 a variety of retreat opportunities. Seniors kayaked in Rocky River, tackled the GoApe course in the MetroParks, hiked many miles in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, fished in Rocky River, and made beautiful artistic reflections of God’s creation by Lake Erie. On all the retreats, seniors reflected on their time as Bruins and prayed about their future.
School Masses & Services
Celebrating our faith together and providing opportunities for the students to worship God continued through this school year. St. Anthony of Padua Parish generously allowed us to use its church for school Masses.
Students and faculty gathered in the Chapel after school for Liturgy of the Word services, “Wind Down Wednesday” meditations and “Thankful Thursdays.”
Bruins Continue to Give Back during the Pandemic
As Franciscans, we are called to love and serve God, mother earth, one another, and especially the most vulnerable in our society. While challenging in many ways, COVID did not stop the Bruin Nation from engaging in meaningful and much-needed service throughout the school year. Whether it was creating Christmas greeting cards and crafts for seniors at Mount Alverna Nursing Home, writing pen-pal letters to the students at St. Francis School, donating nearly 1,000 pounds of food through our first-ever Lenten Bruin Basket Program for Cleveland families in need, or creating 200 origami Easter baskets
full of candy and cheer for students of St. Francis School — Padua students lived out the Franciscan mission to “preach the Gospel, and when necessary use words.”
