INTRODUCTION TO ACCOUNTING (182)
Semester 1/2 Credit Grades 10, 11, 12 Req: B- or higher in Algebra I.
Students are guided through the basic accounting cycle to learn how to analyze business transactions for a service business organized as a sole proprietorship. Students will learn to record journal entries and ultimately prepare financial statements for the business. This course also introduces students to spreadsheets, accounting fraud cases, business ethics, career options in the accounting profession, and various financial literacy topics.
INTERMEDIATE ACCOUNTING (183)
Semester 1/2 Credit Grades 10, 11, 12 Req: Introduction to Accounting
Students utilize skills learned in Introduction to Accounting to complete the basic accounting cycle for a merchandising business organized as a corporation. Students are introduced to accounting for purchases and sales of goods, inventory, payroll and payroll taxes, as well as financial statement preparation and analysis.
ADVANCED ACCOUNTING (184)
Semester 1/2 Credit Grades 11, 12 Req: Introduction to Accounting and Intermediate Accounting
This course stresses the principles and skills acquired in Introduction to Accounting and Intermediate Accounting. Students will examine advanced financial accounting topics such as accounting for uncollectible accounts, fixed asset purchases and disposals, depreciation and inventory costing methods. Students will also be introduced to basic managerial accounting topics including sales, purchasing, and operating budgets.
BUSINESS PRINCIPLES/ENTREPRENEURSHIP (175)
Semester 1/2 Credit Grades 11, 12
A comprehensive examination of business principles with focus on entrepreneurship. Students will write a business plan along with creating and delivering a pitch presentation. Also, students will learn from entrepreneur guest speakers and investigate trends in leadership and solution generation.
FINANCIAL LITERACY (E176)
Second Semester Grades 9, 10, 11 Note: State of Ohio Graduation Requirement
Financial Literacy is an online, non-credit, P/F course, that will be offered to transfer in students. This course meets the Ohio graduation requirement as expressed in the Social Studies academic content standards adopted by the State Board of Education under section 3301.079 of the Revised Code. Concepts that will be covered include Financial Basics, Working and Earning, Budgeting, Understanding Credit, and Wealth Creation and Risk Management. This course must be successfully completed prior to the end of the student’s Junior year.

Marketing plays a vital role in business, bridging the gap between producer and consumer. A variety of marketing activities will be studied including: channel management, marketing-information management, market planning, product/service management, pricing, digital marketing, promotion, and sales.
