The goal of this practicum is to offer opportunities for students to have a prominent role in the dissemination of news in Padua’s community. Primarily, students in this course will meet after school to pitch news stories, write scripts, record and edit segments, and compile those segments into a Padua Newscast to be played for the student body as morning announcements. Mandatory workshops early on in the year will introduce students to traditional and digital elements of Multimedia Journalism. Students in Morning Newscasting are expected to maintain both in-person and email correspondence with advisor(s), and submit completed video content by assigned deadlines. Students can take this course all four years. Multimedia Journalism English elective is recommended as a prerequisite (but not required).
The goal of this course is to expose students to elements of journalism, page layout, and graphic design, as well as the
technological process involved in the publishing world. This is an independent study course utilizing a web-based
platform. A mandatory one-day workshop during the first quarter frames expectations and provides technical
guidance. Students are expected to maintain coordination via emails and to allocate the appropriate amount of time to
accomplish adviser expectations. Students in Yearbook will be responsible for story and caption writing, photography,
