 President’s Message
One thing I’ve learned over these past five years is that
the school calendar is a 12 month venture. There is an awful lot happening throughout the summer by way of preparing for the next school year. We are somewhat like the baseball season: planning for opening day begins after the final out of the season. Padua Franciscan is no different.
As a premier college-prep institution, we both challenge and assist each of our students to develop a strong mind, build a healthy body and live a set of Christian and Franciscan
values that will form a solid foundation for the rest of their lives. Teachers and the administration meet for days to prepare themselves to receive our young men and women, and rightfully so! The classroom is where they ply their trade.
It is amazing to realize how much time each of us spends in the presence of teachers. We have approximately 6 hours of classroom time 5 days a week for approximately 36 weeks-a-year. This is over 1,080 hours a year. Multiply that by 12 years and you have 12,360 hours with teachers by the time you graduate from high school. Is it any wonder that teachers are some of the most influential people in our lives?
Owing to our Capital Campaign, our alums and shareholders have made it possible for our teachers and students to work in an updated teaching environment. This issue of The Paduan will highlight some of the advancements we’ve made to our building. Additionly, we have centered our attention on the people who make Padua Franciscan the familial community
it is. From our 30th anniversary of Spring Musicals (yes, wasn’t Phantom of the Opera spectacular?), to our inaugural Grand Reunion and our first Grandparents Day, we have enjoyed some fantastic expressions of what it means to be a Bruin!
We have received many a blessing from the Lord, and we are thankful for all of God’s gifts. Let’s also remember to thank those who touch our lives so that we can grow in Holiness and Learning, the ultimate goal of all of our efforts.
Peace and all that is good!
