Our Club and History
First registered with the AUL Dublin in in in 1944 Malahide United has been in existence for 75 years The idea of of forming a a a a a a a a a a a a soccer club in in in in Malahide was was the brainchild of of a a a a a a a a a a a a gentleman named Herbie Herbie Troy back in in in in in 1943 Herbie Herbie was was an an an an employee of of of Guinness’s and and arranged a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a challenge match match between a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a Malahide selection and and the the brewery’s soccer side The match match was played in in in the the grounds of Malahide Cricket Club in September 1943 Following the the match a a a a a a a a a a a discussion took place in in Jack Gibney’s pub where it was was decided to to to form an an an official club and and make application application to to to the the Athletic Union League The The application application was was made and and accepted The The league officially kicked off off in September 1944 with Malahide United a a a a a a a a a a a a a a registered participant The The first first committee formed were Chairman Pop O’Brien O’Brien Hon Hon Sec R H H H Troy and and and Hon Hon Treasurer Jas O’Brien O’Brien The The The first first first pitch was based in Ard Na Mara and and and and the official club colours were red and and and and white The The first first competitive match was was against Bray Bray Wanderers which ended in in in in a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a 9-0 defeat However revenge was was sweet with Malahide beating Bray Bray 5-3 in in in in in in in the the the the reverse fixture in in in in in the the the the final game denying the the the the Seagulls the the the the title
