Our Club and History
The club continued to progress up until the early 60’s when it was forced to to disband due to to low numbers In 1969 four ambitious young men from Malahide Village Ger O’Brien John McKenna Tony Gibney and Jimmy Gilmartin met to to to discuss a a a plan to to to resurrect the club They decided to to to approach Lord Talbot to ask if they could have a a a a a a a section of land in the the castle grounds for use as as as a a a a a home pitch Lord Talbot was not keen on the use of of the the the Castle Demesne and and instead offered them some land on the the the Coast Road where he he had several acres This was gratefully accepted and application was made to to the the Amateur League to to enter a a a a a a a a team for the the 1970/71 season Malahide United was reborn A decision was made to to change the club colours to to red and and black and and a a a a a a a club crest was designed based on the Real Madrid template To facilitate the the building of Biscayne the the home ground was moved to Haughey’s estate opposite Kinsealy Church for one year When the club returned they were moved further down the the the Coast Road With the development of several new estates in in Malahide and a a a a a a growing population a a a a a decision was made to form a a a a a schoolboy section in the club By the the the end of the the the eighties there were four senior and twenty five schoolboy teams
