Restraint and Restrictive Practice
Aim: The aim of this workshop is to give a comprehensive
overview of the National Policy on Restraint. It equips the
participants with the knowledge and skills to use the policy
effectively and it helps them understand the limited,
exceptional circumstances in which restraint and restrictive
practice can be legally employed.
Course Outline: It comprises of four modules:
Introduction to national policy on Restraint
The law and restraint
Procedures in relation to restraint
Guidelines, resources and decision making in relation
to restraint
Objectives: After participating in this workshop the
participants will be able to safely and effectively use the
national policy on restraint in their everyday practice in the
clinical area where they work. National and International
