EASY GUIDE TO BUYING THE PERFECT SUIT - EVERY MAN NEEDS ONE!
No need to be conservative: These days tailoring is less stu y and suits o en come with modern styling twists like unusual fabrics and
linings, peak lapels and double vents (that’s the slit/s at the back of the suit).
• Size matters: Make sure you understand the elements of the perfect t. The suit’s shoul- ders should essentially hug yours, ensuring that the shoulder pads do not extend be- yond your own shoulders. The chest should t snugly allowing you to easily button the jacket without it being a restrictive, likewise there shouldn’t be too much space between button and chest (more than a st means
it’s too big). Check the length is correct by cupping your ngertips under the sides of the jacket sleeves.
• All in the detail: Hand stitched detailing
is one of the signs of a good suit as are multiple inside pockets. Peak lapels are old-school but are making a come back. Look out for funky lining in bright colours, stripes and patterns.
• Buttoned up: Buttons play an important role with the three-button suit being stan- dard issue whilst two-button suits are very fashionable and the one-button suit being the highest of fashion statements (not for everyone but really stylish if you can pull it o – probably not the best look for your wedding day though)
• No skirts for me please: The ‘skirt’ actually refers to the part of your jacket that hangs below the waist so make sure it hangs cor- rectly or get your tailor to adjust it.
THINK SEASONAL
hink about your wedding colors too. Consider the season that the event will take place in when choosing your suit. If you’re a guest at a winter wedding, try to
find out what the theme will be to ensure you don’t clash with the rest of the guests and groomsmen. Alternatively, a tweed suit offers a rustic look and feel. In spring, a waistcoat is the perfect back up for unpre- dictable temperatures.
