How to get your guests on the Dancefloor
The wedding reception is the part of the ceremony where you and your guests can relax and celebrate your union as husband and wife. The best way to keep guests entertained at your wedding is by keeping the dance oor packed with guests all evening. Here are some ways for brides and grooms to ensure that their dance oor is one that is not easily forgotten.
REQUESTS
Before your wedding day, have your guests write a song request or two on their RSVP’s. This simple gesture helps your guests instantly feel excited to see if their song will be picked. This also ensures that each guest will have at least one song they love to dance to played, creating a constant stream of dance oor movers throughout the evening.
MANY GENRES
When choosing your songs for the wedding, try to include as many di erent genre styles as possible. If you stick to one style of music all evening, your guests could get tired easily. Limit the amount of slow tunes to three or four throughout the evening, that way the energy levels stay high.
THE FIRST DANCE
If you are keeping your rst dance short and sweet, a great way to kick o the night is by inviting your guests to join you at the end of your rst dance. Having all your guests out on the dance oor with you makes for many memories for all.
SPECIAL COUPLES DANCES
A fun way to incorporate couples of all ages is by having an anniversary dance. Start by having all married couples on the dance oor. Then couples who have been married for more than one year stay on the oor, then more than two years stay, they ve, then ten, and so on until you are left with the older couples who have been together for fty years plus. This is a great way to get your parents, grandparents and older married couples to have a good time.
BACKUP DANCERS
A good way to keep your guests consistently on the dance oor is by asking your bridal party to be your backup danc- ers. They can assist you in getting the crowd up and dancing, and showing o their best moves.
GLOW GLOW GLOW
The glow stick is an underrated party starter and a favour- ite for both young and old. Once the sun starts to go down, crack out the glow sticks. If you keep the lights low and the glow sticks high, the party will never end.
LINE DANCING
This rather well used dance style is still a great way to get everybody up on the dance oor. There are quite a variety of line dance songs that are not over played, perhaps your DJ can give you some suggestions from their experience.
THE ROLL ON EFFECT
If you do get a low energy break in the dance oor activity (perhaps after a slower song), try the roll on e ect. You and your husband will go nd guests to dance with. After a while, give them the instruction to go and get another guest, while you also grab a new partner. Keep going until everyone is out on the dance oor. Again, your bridal party can help you with this task so the oor stays full.
THE TABLE TUNE
Keep things interesting by planning a song for each table to dance to. When the DJ or bands plays that song, everyone at that table gets up to dance.
JUST KEEP DANCING
Lead by example and make sure you and your husband keeps dancing, the guests will follow. Everyone wants to dance with the happy couple on their wedding day so make sure they all get a chance to.
Most of all, enjoy your celebrations! Your vibe will inspire everyone to be as excited and happy as you both are
