Old Christ Church

Built in 1771–72, the chapel is known for its unpainted heart-of-pine interior, and the fact that it has never been plumbed, heated, electrified, or painted. The church is one of the few unaltered churches surviving from Colonial American times. Monthly 1st Sunday Service at the church at 10am beginning the 1st Sunday of June until the 1st Sunday of Sept. Tours are offered on a scheduled basis.

This church was mentioned by Francis Asbury in his 1779 journal. The “new” building was dedicated in 1872.

Seaford volunteer fire department purchased two Seagrave fire trucks, these two fire trucks, along with other fire department memorabilia, tells some of the history of the fire department. The museum was established in 2001 to house the original trucks.

This museum is located in the historic post office building. It is owned and operated by the Seaford His- torical Society. A timeline of Seaford’s unique history of shipbuilding, baseball, nylon, and the poultry indus- try are showcased. Exhibits updated continuously.

Open: Mon, Wed, and Fri 10am–4pm; Sat 10am–2pm This exhibit features artifacts recovered from the Nuestra Señora de Atocha (“Our Lady of Atocha”),
the most famous of a fleet of Spanish ships that sank in 1622 off the Florida Keys. Examine recovered can- nons, gold and silver bars, coins, jewelry, weaponry, and religious objects. Small admissions fee.
