Kanab hosts the signature Western Legends Roundup and Western Film Festival created to honor Western movie history. Over the years, 70 classic Western movies have been filmed in Kane County (see pages. 10–11). This event preserves, promotes, and develops culture and heritage through working folklore displays, cowboy poetry, music, and education.
The Western Legends Roundup is for people who embrace the Western way of life or who want to learn more about it. Activities include: Workshops, Film Festival, Dancing, Entertainment, and a Dutch Oven Cook-Off. Street Fair with art, food vendors, and live cowboy music. Saturday High Noon Parade with horses, wagon train, and Indian Dancers have made this the best parade around! Movie stars and entertainers are available for book signings and autographs.
Of course, community involvement and volunteer efforts make this festival a great success. Their extensive efforts make it possible for thousands upon thousands to come to Kanab each year and enjoy exhibitions honoring Western Legends.
