Located just off Utah Scenic Highway 14 East, at 8,400 ft. This village has become a great Utah winter snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing destination. In the warmer months the area is bursting with beautiful meadows, wildflowers, wildlife, and trails, making it an ideal place for hiking, fishing, mountain biking, and much more.
Gunsmoke Movie Set
Many of the outdoor scenes for the television series “Gunsmoke” were shot in Johnson Canyon near Kanab. A replica of the Hollywood set was created just three-miles outside of Kanab and can still be viewed from the road, but is not accessible due to its state of general disrepair.

Moqui Cave

A natural history museum featuring Native American artifacts and a large collection of dinosaur tracks. Owned and operated by the Chamberlain family for over 50 years, Lex Chamberlain serves as tour guide for the
cave. His historical accounts and stories are designed to acquaint visitors with the experience of the inhabitants of Southern Utah.
Maynard Dixon Home and Studio

2200 South State Street, Mount Carmel
Best known for his landscape paintings of the American West, Maynard Dixon moved to Mt. Carmel from San Francisco in 1939 where he lived and painted until his death in 1946. In 1998, the home was restored and is now a mecca for artist retreats, tours, workshops, and the annual Maynard Dixon Country Art Invitational held each year in August.
