In the Historic “Old Library,” Kanab
The Museum was destined to be demolished before local historians fought to keep it intact. Today it houses many interesting artifacts and history from the early days of the Kanab area. One featured exhibit is the country’s first all- woman town council, elected in 1911, with Mary Woolley Chamberlain as mayor. In the basement of the Museum is the Juniper Gallery, featuring beautiful artwork from around the area. It is open for tours May 1st–Sept 30th, Mon–Fri 9am–5pm.
Kanab Heritage House

The Heritage House was built in 1894 for Henry Bowman. It has been restored to its original glory. It is open for tours during the Spring: Thurs–Sat 10am–5:30pm.
Moqui Cave

Highway 89 North, Kanab
Moqui Cave is a remarkable museum that depicts the lives and architectural achievements of the Ancient Americans (“Anasazi”) in Southern Utah during the pueblo period. In addition to the caves extensive display of Native American Artifacts, it also contains one of the largest fluorescent mineral displays in the USA and a collection of dinosaur tracks.
This 200 ft. sandstone cave is located five-miles north of Kanab on scenic Highway 89. Since the temperature never exceeds 70 degrees, it’s one of the coolest places in the desert, even in the hottest heat of summer. Open Mon–Sat from 8am–8pm “in summer,” and other season hours vary.
Orderville Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Museum

This large two-story structure with a porch and many small rooms was the special residence for the United Board and their families. Open by appointment. Free admission.
The Old Rock Church - Art Gallery
2610 South State Street, Mount Carmel
The rock church began as a charming log building in 1890 and was used as a church and schoolhouse. In 1919 it burned to the ground, but in 1923 was rebuilt with rock. It is now referred to as “The Old Rock Church” and has considerable local historical significance as the only remaining public building in town. It is open May–Sept
Maynard Dixon Home and Studio

2200 South State Street, Mount Carmel
This pioneer-style stone and log home belonged to Maynard Dixon and his wife Edith. Dixon is a well-known painter of the American West. Between March and October, volunteers are on hand to give tours at the home. Self Guided Tours are available daily during the same months. Schedule your tour through their website. All tours begin at the Thunderbird Foundation headquarters, located in the Bingham Gallery at 2200 South State Street in Mt. Carmel.
