churches sacrificed greatly in persecution and in giving to help those in need or to declare their faith
within their culture. They certainly had fellowship, but they did not have a fun time of it.

When you plan a fellowship time, ask yourself, “what difference in eternity will this event make?” If the
event will advance God’s kingdom on earth or bring rewards in heaven in the future, then go for it. But
if it will not accomplish anything of eternal value, don’t bother to waste your time, money, and efforts
               to do it.

               5. Consider having fellowship by doing ministry together. Some of the richest fellowship I have
experienced in years past is when believers come together to minister. A team going on a mission’s trip
is drawn together in close fellowship and they plan and share the Gospel with the lost during the trip. A
group of ladies putting together care packages for missionaries experience great fellowship in ministry. I
believe that the early church had daily fellowship sharing how God had used them each day to spread
the Gospel to their neighbors and friends. They had fellowship in prayer with one another. When
planning your fellowships at church, consider the plea of Colossians 3: 1-4, 23-24:

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where
Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above,
not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with
Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with
him in glory…. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for
men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your

reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
