9.     We note that there are only a handful of investments from
               Qatar  in  Malaysia.  So  we  certainly  welcome  more
               companies  from  Qatar  to  explore  the  business
               opportunities  in  our  country  particularly  in  oil  and  gas,
               chemical  and  chemical  products,  food  processing,  halal,
               hotel and tourism, Islamic banking and finance.

        10.    We are confident that Malaysia will be an ideal destination
               for  Qatari  investors,  especially  to  access  the  broader
               market in the ASEAN region. We also trust that there are
               ample  business  opportunities  that  can  be  explored  by
               Malaysian     businesses      here.   Currently,    Malaysian
               companies  such  as  Gamuda,  UEM,  Eversendai,  Holiday
               Villa and Malaysia Airports have a large footprint in Qatar.

        Trade Performance

        11.    In  2018,  Malaysia’s  total  trade  with  Qatar  increased  by
               29.3  per  cent  to  USD915.1  million  (favoring  Qatar).
               Malaysia total exports to Qatar totaled USD245.7 million in
               2018, an increase of 29.8 per cent. Major export products
               were:


                     machinery, equipment and parts (15.0 per cent);

                     processed food – mainly dairy products and edible
                       products and preparations (10.5 per cent);
                     palm  oil  and  palm-based  agriculture  products  (7.3
                       per cent);

                     iron and steel products (7.1 per cent); and
                     manufactures of metal (7.0 per cent)

               While  Malaysia’s  imports  from  Qatar  also  increased  by
               29.1 per cent to USD669.3 million as compared with 2017.
