ITINERARY
Friday 16 April: Depart Auckland by coach mid-morning with pick-up at Hamilton and stopping for lunch along the way. Arrive at Blue Duck Station late afternoon and get settled into your lodge and get to know fellow attendees over dinner and drinks around the open fire. The views of the milky way are the perfect start for the keen night photographers.
Saturday 17 Aprilt: Today is an early start as we head up to the top of a ridge before sunrise for spectacular views of Mt Ruapehu, Tongariro and Ngauruhoe. Back for breakfast before we are off on a variety of photographic opportunities such as, landscapes to waterfalls, historic buildings, native bush and hidden gorges - fingers crossed a Whio or two. Maybe a spot of astro-photo- graphy if the sky is clear tonight. This weekend is between a new moon and first quarter, so the night sky will be relatively dark, so we are hoping for good weather. Photography review session this evening.
Sunday 18 April: Another sunrise photographic opportunity, then after breakfast we board a jetboat to discover the beauty of the Whanganui river before heading back to base. Over lunch we reflect and focus on the highlights of the weekend.
Before we board our coach for our homeward bound trip, we have a photo sharing session. Arrive back in Auckland late afternoon, after travelling viaHamilton.
