This e-book was written to complement the children’s historical fiction novel, From the Cave
Wall: A Stone Age Story.
It is a collection of the research, information and author thoughts to help you find out more
about this fascinating time period.
13,000 years ago, the world was very different from the way it is now.
This was the Upper Paleolithic period and our human ancestors (homo sapiens) lived in groups
called bands which would contain four or five different families or households.
It was vital that these people worked together to survive within the natural world. There was
no electricity, cars or even permanent houses and everything came from the land around them -
food, clothing and shelter.
