COMPRESSION HEIGHT GUIDE
The following chart is designed to determine the required compression height when choosing cubic inch displacement, cyl-
inder bore, stroke and rod length. Often, identical displacement engines may be assembled in several variations, depending
upon the chosen rod length and compression height. For example; a Small Block Chevy 383 CID engine may be assembled
in three different rod length/compression height variations using a 5.565" rod/1.561" comp. ht., 5.700" rod/1.433" comp.
ht., or a 6.000" rod/1.130" comp. ht. Many more engine variations may be created other than what is listed, however, those
listed are readily available using “off-the-shelf” pistons, connecting rods and crankshafts.
