Page 45 - Everything You Know About Dinosaurs is Wrong
P. 45
Although TYRANNOSAURUS grew to be a huge predator with tiny arms, as a young dinosaur they would have been fluffier with longer arms. They also would have had miniature teeth in comparison to fully grown tyrannosaurs, so they would have hunted different, smaller prey.
A few palaeontologists today believe that some dinosaurs might not be different species, as first thought, but just younger or older versions of the same animals.
DRACOREX, STYGIMOLOCH and PACHYCEPHALOSAURUS might all have been the same animal. As it grew, its horns grew smaller and smaller and its head dome grew thicker and thicker.
NEDOCERATOPS and TOROSAURUS were huge horned dinosaurs and they might have been what TRICERATOPS grew into as it became very old.
N A N O T Y R A N N U S was a small, skinny theropod that was discovered in the 1980s. Although palaeontologists first thought it was a new species, scientists now think NANOTYRANNUS was actually a teenage TYRANNOSAURUS!
Only by discovering more fossils and taking a CLOSER look at what these bones from the past are really telling us, can we discover more about how dinosaurs grew up – and how different they looked from their parents!
