Future Skills
Future Skills is a taster qualification and introduction to studying at college. The course runs between 3- 4 days a week.
Future Skills is a course designed for young people who need an extra year to find their chosen vocational career path and have studied at GCSE level.
There are no formal qualifications needed to apply for this course. Students will have an initial assessment to ensure they are studying at an appropriate level.
Students on Introduction to the Hospitality Industry will study:
Introduction to the Hospitality Industry is an Entry level 3 course for students with a genuine interest in cookery and a career in the Catering and Hospitality industry. The course is a City and Guilds awarded qualification.
Students will study:
BTEC Diploma in Vocational studies which includes portfolio building and practical assessments in a range of vocational subjects that may include :
• Catering
• Enterprise
• Exploring tourist destinations
• Health needs
• IT
• Physical activity
• Team building
• Gardening
• Creative craft
• GCSE English and Maths
Students will study:
• Food hygiene
• Basic food preparation and cookery
• Customer service
• Food service
• Introduction to kitchen equipment
• Commodities
• Healthy eating
• Investigating the Hospitality industry
• GCSE English and Maths
Enrichment Opportunities
To enhance the learning experience and develop employability skills students will also take part in a range of enrichment opportunities:
