What will I learn?
This course allows you to discover your creativity with our team of industry specialists. It links theory with real media practice, and you will study:
• production management, pre-production, scripting and storyboarding
• practical camera work, soundtrack creation and editing production
• advertising campaigns and music video production
• animation, visual effects and motion graphics
• film studies, documentary and social action productions
• photography, image editing and layout design
• client based work, multi-camera productions, studio work and practical skills
You should also have an active interest in
the media, in particular film and television production, as you will be encouraged to seek work experience with local industries.
How will I be assessed?
You will work on a variety of practical assignments that reflect television industry practice. Assessment is through a range of
projects that include written work (essays, reports, production folders, scripts and treatments), analysis of existing texts, presentations, and practical work (planning, production and post-production).
What enrichment can I look forward to?
You will get the chance to participate in Runshaw TV, our college production company. You can also be involved with The Voice, our college radio station, and we run enrichment on make-up effects, client briefs, digital effects and broadcasting. There are also a variety
of visits to The National Science and Media Museum in Bradford, the BBC, universities, television studios and film exhibitions.
What progression is there?
Students progress into a wide variety of different careers, such as the television, film and radio industry, broadcast journalism, animation, games design, motion graphics, special effects industry, marketing and advertising.
