Why should I come to Runshaw to study Economics?
Economics offers a unique insight into how the world works and will help students to understand many of the big questions facing people today, such as:
• how badly will the UK be impacted by an extended period of low global growth?
• what can we do about global warming?
• should patients be charged for
hospital treatment?
Economics provides students with the skills to analyse issues to a high standard and provides an excellent foundation for Higher Education in such areas as economics, finance, business, management and accountancy, politics and philosophy. Recent students have progressed to degree courses at Oxford, Cambridge, the London School of Economics and Warwick University.
Our Economics students consistently achieve high grades above national benchmarks. The 2018 pass rate was 100% and 33.3% A*-A grades.
We run two residential visits each year, past trips have included visits to: Beijing, Italy, Belgium and New York.
As an Economics student you can also take part in national competitions such as the Bank of England’s Target 2.0 competition and The Young Economist of the Year competition.
