BTEC Business
“Students who have attended Runshaw have gone on to achieve great things and I wanted to be part of that legacy. It’s hard to find a college which motivates
and pushes each pupil like Runshaw does. After my BTEC I am hoping to start a Financial Services Apprenticeship.”
Excellent
Progression
   What will I learn?
You will develop a real understanding of what is involved, both theoretically and practically, in becoming an effective business professional.
Year One: you will cover business functions and internal and external influences on businesses, including marketing, management of business resources, finance, leadership
and teamwork, business communications and business ethics.
Year Two: you will cover the learning of specialised subjects such as employment law, economics, project management, international business, internet and e-commerce, human resource management, retail and distribution and the English legal system.
How will I be assessed?
Your assessment will vary greatly and reflect the types of communications used daily in business such as reports, presentations, debates, podcasts, meetings, and will also include practical involvement in activities such as market research and the managing of a business team event activity.
Many contemporary businesses are also linked to assigned scenarios used to allow you to demonstrate applying your knowledge in real business settings.
What enrichment can I look forward to?
You will have the opportunity to be involved in external visits and guest speaker presentations. Recent visits have included Alton Towers, British Aerospace, Paris, Belgium, Italy, Moscow, New York, Shanghai and Beijing.
What progression is there?
You will have a mass of future opportunities available to you. You could choose to go on to university to study a wide variety of related topics such as Law, Project Management
or Accounting. Alternatively you could
enter the world of work and specialise in Marketing, Finance, Sales or Personnel sectors. Our students who choose to enter the world of work have engaged in numerous business opportunities, including the BAE Systems Management Trainee Programme, Apprenticeships with Lancashire Police and a variety of accounting firms.
