WICKER’S WORL
Those of our readers who remember the interiors of the 1970s might need to sit down for this one because, yes, wicker and rattan furniture is back! This time around though it’s less about rattan plant pots and painted wicker ‘lounge furniture’ and more about using the naturalistic material in new, unexpected wayse. Wicker arm chairs follow sculptural lines complemented with black metal legs, whilst oversized rattan pendant lights are perfect above a distressed wood dining tablee.
The look pairs brilliantly with this season’s other trends for greenery
and global-
inspired patterns,
or it can also work
well in a vintage-
inspired bedroom
paired with faded
floral prints. The key
to making this look work for
2018 is to introduce lots of texture to complement the natural materials whilst keeping colour schemes low- key. Think faux fur throws, Aztec- inspired woollen cushions
and applique details, accented with natural tones of cream, terracotta and sage green.
