                 TRE S #2:
Pastels are a perennial summer classic for decorating but this year’s fresh take sees ice cream sorbet colours taking centre stagee. Think sugar pink, baby blue and sherbet yellow with a scoop of fresh mint or soft peach for the full ice cream parlour experiencee.
What makes this trend different from the pastels used in the 1990s is that it achieves a much more modern effect – no twee frills or flounces, no florals
or soft edges. This year’s pastels are
appearing in geometric prints for rugs, cushions and accessories. Think of the graphic shapes you’d see on Miami’s Art Deco buildings rather than stripes or flowers.
The colours work well teamed
with natural wood furniture in contemporary shapes or for a more edgy look you can mix sorbet shades with matt black accents – a trend you’ll see much more of during the second half of 2018.
