While Cullman was not spared from the chaos that day, this cloud does have a silver lining.
In January 2014, a client of John Dean (the insurance agent) stumbled upon a journal while sorting through property salvaged from his father’s attic. Interestingly, the journal contained a recipe for brewing beer, from a family who still lived in Cullman, and the great-great-granddaughter of which is married to John’s brewing partner, Mike Mullaney (2022 Burgermeister).

and Brad Glenn, had a feeling that this recipe
from Wilhelmina Fredrick Richter could be the something special for which the four friends had been searching. With help from one of Mike’s coworkers, and his coworker’s father back in Germany, the recipe was resurrected. On an April day, with many of the Richter family present, Johnny Richter was honored to hoist the first mug of Richter Pils, a ceremony of history in the making.
