BRIEF HISTORY

The Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) are the
services and programs in higher education institutions that are

concerned with academic support experiences of students to attain

holistic student development. Academic support services are: those
that relate to student welfare, student development and those that

relate to institutional programs and services.

The Isabela State University Echague Main Campus OSAS

services are the following: Guidance & Counseling, Testing Unit,
Student Organization Unit, Publication Unit, Scholarship Unit,

Vocational & Placement Unit, Housing Unit, Gender & Development

Program, Sports Program, Socio-Cultural Activity and other related
students program.

The Role of OSAS on the Students Rights & Welfare

The Office of Students Affairs and Services has a big role in
protecting the rights and welfare of students. We have to protect and

promote it, for every Filipino citizen to quality education at all levels and

should take appropriate step and action to make education accessible
to all. We should establish, maintain and support a complete,

adequate, balance and integrated system of education relevant to the

needs of the people and society. We should protect and ensure

academic freedom for continuous intellectual growth, the advancement
of research and learning, development of responsible leadership and

high-level professionals and the enrichment of historical and cultural

heritage. We should seek to form individuals to become productive

citizens of the country and the world. We are not only confined to the
teaching and development and the acquisition of skills and values but

also to the upliftment of human conditions. We should provide them

with the basic health, food, shelter and safety concerns including
students with special needs and disabilities. The student rights for them

to enjoy should be balanced by the exercise of accountability. We

should ensure and improve the proper balance of educational
institutions and students rights. We should promote access to quality,

relevant, efficient and effective student affairs and services. We should

support the student’s development and welfare service.
