P. 3

Association in 2012, to name a few. She was proud to be selected to visit the White House with other Senior Citizens from across the nation for a ceremony sponsored by President Barack Obama in 2011.
Her motto in life was, “I cannot do everything, but I can do some things. What I can do, I ought to do. What I ought to do, with the help of God, I will do.” Because of her strong Christian values and faith in God, when she heard of a need, she responded by freely giving her time, service, and resources to meet those needs whether it was for a friend or a stranger.
Ruby always loved to write, frequently writing poems and editorials to the local newspapers. She enjoyed life, learning and new experiences: in her 60s, she learned to use the computer, went motorcycle riding at age 80, and took a helicopter ride at age 90, which she recalled as the most enjoyable and exciting experience that she had ever had.
Ruby leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters, Janice Patricia Walden, Sandra Walden Kiah, Pearl Walden Thomas (John); one son, Olin L. Walden (Judy); Eleven grandchildren, Lorrie Fitts (Adrian), Donna Griffin (Michael), Chiwahn Walden (Tiana), Erin Walden, Kristina Walden-Hillard (Al), Sarah Kiah Morton (Ronald), Laura Dennis (Marquis), Stephanie Jolley (Noble), John Charles Thomas, Jr. (Raina), Ruby Thomas Dolce (John-Kevin), and Lewis Thomas; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Vernell W. Walden and Sarah Jean Walden; many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends and Evelyn Petrina Holland, who was like a daughter to her.

 SERVE ANYWAY
People are unreasonable, illogical and self-centered; Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; Be honest and frank anyway.
What you take years building, someone could destroy overnight; Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will forget tomorrow; Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough; Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis it is between you and God. It never was between you and them anyway.
