Communicate To Lead
Delivering the right information when it is needed, where it is needed is an integral part of sustaining improvement in processes. But business is essentially a human enterprise. There is no data replacement for collaboration and innovation; the kind that occurs best in a face-to-face, real-time environment.
Most people spend between 80 and 90 percent of their waking hours engaging in some form of interpersonal communication. Each of us, at one time or another, has felt misunderstood, in spite of our belief that we communicated clearly. Surveys show that workplace miscommunication can be costly, lowering productivity and increasing turnover. Strong communication at the interpersonal level is essential for a culture characterized by an agile workforce and employees who are engaged in the continuous improvement practices that bring true value to the customer.
