What is Communication
Communication is:
• an exchange of information between people to achieve shared understanding.
• a two-way process
• essential for effective leadership

The Challenge
In the morass of paper and technology, we have forgotten the purpose of communication and often mistake information transfer for communication. Massive amounts of information and the need for speedy replies are the two greatest enemies in communicating effectively.
The more elaborate our means of communication, the less we communicate.

Communication ‘noise’ acts as a potential obstacle to reaching shared understanding. It can include external sounds and physical obstacles, or internal noise such as our own thoughts or concerns.
